The Service

What exactly does horse arena sand cleaning involve?

We use the DELFINO walk-behind sand cleaning machine to pass through your entire arena surface. The machine feeds sand through precision separation screens, filtering out stones, debris, and contaminants while aerating and decompacting the sand.

How is this different from harrowing?

Harrowing redistributes and aerates the top layer of sand. It does not remove stones, glass, metal fragments, or organic debris. The DELFINO machine physically extracts contamination from the sand.

How deep does the machine clean?

On average, we clean to a depth of 100-150mm, the full active layer of arena sand. High-traffic zones are given extra attention.

Will the machine remove my sand?

No. The machine separates contamination from your sand and returns the sand to the surface. Only the debris is extracted and removed from site.

Frequency & Timing

How often should I have my horse arena cleaned?

For most horse arenas in Australia, a professional clean every 12-18 months is the minimum recommendation. High-use arenas often benefit from a clean every 6-12 months.

Can you clean the arena in wet conditions?

For best results, the sand should be slightly damp but not saturated. We can reschedule around weather if needed.

Pricing & Quoting

How do I get a quote?

Send photos of your arena to Stephen directly by phone, SMS, or the contact form. Include photos of the surface, surrounds, and obvious contamination.

Do you travel to regional areas?

Yes. Stephen services horse arenas throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, and South Australia.

Sand & Arena Condition

How do I know if my arena sand is contaminated?

Run your hand through the top 50-100mm of sand in several spots. If you feel stones or hard debris, contamination has built up.

Should I add new sand after a clean?

Often, no. Compacted sand that has been professionally cleaned and aerated recovers significant depth.
